They are cute and little amphibians who shed regularly and secrete a lot of mucus through their skin. They bathe in their drinking water, eat living things like their food, and also leave their sweat in the tanks. Thus, it is essential to do the cleaning of the frog’s aquarium or tank regularly, and it is also essential to change the water frequently to prevent bacterial or fungal infection. Once you get into the habit of doing it, it won’t take long.

The process:

Take water in a tank which is of the same size as that of the aquarium. Then, treat the water in the tank to remove any chlorine in it and then leave it sitting for a night.

Remove the frogs from the tank and then place them in a temporary house to complete your cleaning process. (You can buy an extra plastic tank to make it your frog’s temporary house) If you are just changing the water or tidying up the tank, then you can leave the frogs in the tank.

Firstly, drain out approximately 75% of the water from the tank (depending upon how dirty it is). Later on, use a siphon hose to the filter of the tank and then remove the leftover water in it.

If you are cleaning and sanitizing the entire tank to treat the illness, then you must take out the pebbles and the gravels from the bottom of the tank.

Place all the extracted material into a fine colander and use hot water and scrub to clean all the algae and debris from that material. Rinse them with clean water and set them aside to air dry them.

Remove everything left in the tank, including the uneaten insects or any other left food pieces. If you leave them inside the tank, then they might promote the bacteria and fungi to grow in the tank. You must also remove the shredded skin of the frog in the tank.

Remove the plastic plants or any other decorative pieces from the tank and then scrub them in hot water. Rinse them thoroughly, and then keep them back in the tank.

Wipe the inside and the outside of the aquarium using a paper towel. Make sure to avoid using any chemicals in the entire cleaning process.

Add the clean and dry pebbles and gravels back in the tank slowly and carefully.

Fill the tank with clean, treated water and place all the plants and decorative items back in the tank.

Then place your frogs back in their clean home. Give them time to adjust to the environment and let them get calmed before disturbing them again.

Use this method, every time you clean the tank full of frogs or even fishes to make them stay in a clean and healthy environment. A clean environment enhances their lifespan, and also ensures that they don’t catch any health problems.

Frogs are quite low-maintenance pets; they just need a clean and healthy environment to stay disease-free.
